The Contact Center “Klippen” (“The Rock”) is a coffeehouse for homeless, drug addicts and prostitutes. “Klippen” is located in Vesterbro, at the central part of Copenhagen. The address is: Lille Colbjørnsensgade 9, DK1703 Copenhagen.
The commission of Contact Center “Klippen” is, through outreaches at street level, as well as through the work in the center, to help and motivate the above mentioned audience to start a new life - a rehabilitated life of work and family. “Klippen is open three evenings a week, serving complimentary coffee and sandwiches for our visitors.
Every opening night “Klippen” celebrates a worship service. This time of worship promotes a sense of unity for all of us, both staff and users. Singing together makes us to feel the sense of cohesion. However, it is free whether or not, you will attend the service. Many users of the center have found a place for their faith in God; and a new relationship with a church.
“Klippen” is connected to the national based organization “Teen Challenge Denmark (TC)”. Pastor David Wilkerson started the first street work among the gangs in New York back in 1958. This work became the foundation for the global growth, of the ministry among the homeless and people with a substance abuse.
In Denmark Teen Challenge runs a residential treatment center named “Bethesda”. The street work “ TC.Cafeen” in Elsinore. “The Street Café” in Aarhus, besides “Klippen” in central Copenhagen. Teen Challenge is represented in most European countries.
In 2008 “Teen Challenge Denmark” reprinted the book "The Cross and the Switchblade", originally authored and released by David Wilkerson in1963 :
This book has been reprinted again and again. Thus also in 2008. The book includes seven life stories of drug addicts, which, in one or other way, was helped by Teen Challenge to recover to a new life. The book can be purchased by contacting “Klippen”.
